Nanostray Preview

After months of very few games and barely any new screenshots being revealed for the DS, the world was blessed with the announcement of Nanostray. The game is on track to be produced by Majesco and developed by Iridion creator, Shinen.  The game will stay on track with what Iridion did with the Game Boy Advance.  This means making another space shooter that apparently is much deeper and more interesting than the Iridion series.

Details for Nanostray are minimal right now.  Nonetheless, just by looking at screens of the game and taking in the little bits of information we have, we are able to compile enough information to get hyped up.  The game has yet to be playable, but we are expecting fast paced, exciting action.  There will most certainly be many different power ups and shooting abilities as well. Now that the DS cartridges contain more space, there may be a good plot incorporated into the game through cut-scenes.

Other bits of information revealed by the developer are that there will be a two-player mode. This will be co-operative play, but we have yet to know whether there will be additional levels for this or only the standard levels with more difficulty. For now, the two-player mode is only playable through wireless play, but perhaps Shinen will also make this online as well.  With a bit of luck, if the game is online, it may support voice chat (we have yet to know if games will be able to utilize voice chat). This would add a remarkable amount of strategy and excitement to the game.  In addition, gamers who think they are good at the game will be able to post their high scores on the internet.

We are also able to learn bits about the game just by observing the screenshots.  The graphics of the game already appear to make Nanostray one of the best-looking games for the DS.  The ship itself looks interesting and the environment around it is quite detailed. Let us just hope the game keeps its graphics intact and does not lag when two people play together.

Nanostray has just been announced recently and so there is very little news revealed. Even at this early stage, Nanostray is looking to be quite promising. There is a lot that this game could accomplish with the features of the DS. It will be quite interesting to see what they will do with the second screen although we think it will end up just being accessible menus and/or a map. Furthermore, we will see how the developers use the touch screen and whether it will be a big part of the game.

As we learn more about Nanostray, we will keep you posted.
