Goldeneye Rogue Agent Nintendo DS Preview
When Goldeneye is mentioned to even the most casual gamer, they will instantly remember what was and still is one of the best shooters ever. Goldeneye was a game that was not only fun to play all day by yourself, but it was ten times better if you had three other friends playing in a death match against you. Now the game is coming back to the DS, but we have yet to know which version of the game will come to DS though. EA (Electronic Arts) now owns the rights to the James Bond series and are currently in the process of developing a sequel, Goldeneye: Rogue Agent. This game is much different than the original though, as you will be playing as a villain in the James Bond world.
If the game is based off the original Goldeneye, then we are in for a treat. Goldeneye was based off the movie in where James Bond was [ ]. The game had an amazing single player mode in where you were able to go through levels just like the movie with intuitive controls and breathtaking graphics. Add multiplayer to the package and you had a near perfect game. Multiplayer had never been so much fun with tons of weapons and levels to choose from. If the game is ported to the DS, EA can use the original game and updating it with more detailed levels, additional weapons, more characters, online play, and whatever else the developers can think of.
EA (Electronic Arts) took over the James Bond games after the amazing Goldeneye and although their next three games were never awful, they never lived up to the original. The good news is that each new game is significantly better than then the predecessor is. Therefore, we can expect Rogue Agent to be a great game in its own rights.
If Rogue Agent is the new Goldeneye for DS, I will be happy that at least the DS is getting a Bond game, but I will not be as excited as I would have been for the original Goldeneye. Nonetheless, if there is online play and creative usages for the special features of the DS (i.e. the touch screen), then this game will not disappoint James Bond fans.
Whether the final games will be Goldeneye or Rogue Agent, the selling point will be the multiplayer mode. If EA can double or triple the size of the typical maps of the original game and allow for up to 16 players in multiple scenarios, then online play will be awesome. In addition, other features like new Bond accessories, cooler weapons, and voice chat would help online play as well. With the touch screen, it will of interest to see how the controls work out, but we assume clicking the screen will be to shoot (like Metroid Prime). I hope that the controls and gameplay will be very smooth and fluid.
For now, we have nothing, but rumors to go with what the game will turn out to be. I hope that EA knows what it is doing and will make this game just as memorable as the original Goldeneye. Who knows, maybe we’ll get a mix of the two like the single player mode of Rogue Agent, but online levels and weapons from the first Goldeneye. For now, we will be waiting for any news on the game and will report to you as soon as we can.
