Animal Crossing Nintendo DS Preview
When Nintendo released Animal Crossing for the Gamecube, people did not know what to think of the game. How were you to categorize this game? What was up with the wacky graphics of the game? Of course, once the game came out, it was an instant success. For good reason though, as Animal Crossing is very enjoyable and addictive with its innovative gameplay.
Animal Crossing has a simple concept to it, but once you are pulled into the world of Animal Crossing, there is no limit to what you can do. You can do virtually whatever you like in the game. One day you may feel like going fishing while another day you may want to dig up some treasure. You can decorate your house, spend a beautiful afternoon chatting with your friends, or you can just walk around town enjoying the beautiful sun. Actually, you can just leave the game on for a period and let the day pass you by while everything around you continue their day. Now with the features of the Nintendo DS, Animal Crossing will be better than ever.
With the two screens of Nintendo DS, Animal Crossing will now be much easier to play. Some may remember the pain of trying to type with the keyboard on Animal Crossing with the controller. The touch screen will now be used for a few helpful causes. One being a virtual keyboard that can be used by tapping each letter. Others uses include navigating through the menus of the game simultaneously while playing the game. Finally, you can also create all sorts of designs with the use of the touch screen while letting the game run. Then, when you are done with making your design, you can easily put it onto the game.
While doing what you would like on the lower touch screen, you can continue playing the game on the top screen. This permits the game to be much more fun and allows for less down time as you won’t have to always go through menus while pausing the game. Doing two things at once with the different screens will also be helpful if the possibility of online play will be available for Animal Crossing.
Animal crossing for Gamecube was a great game, but online play could have made it perfect. Although there has been no official announcement of online play with Animal Crossing, Nintendo would be crazy not to include online capabilities to the game. Playing with people around the world would be perfect for the game. The made up world of Animal Crossing is fun, but imagine all of your neighbors are actual people. This would open up so much more replay value for the game. The addition of the touch screen with the keyboard will also make it much easier for gamers to chat with each other without the hassle of using a slow controller. The DS also has a built in microphone input and if Nintendo chooses to allow people to talk somehow, the interaction between people would be off the charts.
The graphics of the game are superb. If you remember when Animal Crossing was called Animal Forest and being developed for the N64, the graphics were close to this game. Currently the DS version looks sharper than what the N64 counterpart would have looked like and we’re hoping Nintendo adds even more detail to the game (as if there isn’t enough already).
Overall, Animal Crossing looks to be one of the most promising games for DS. As long as the game is online, there is no doubt that the game will be a success. Add on to the fact that the game is now much more convenient with the use of the two screens, we can only wait for the game to come out now. There is no release date, but it is very possible for the game to be released near the launch of DS.
