Controls
Even though the DS Lite is using many innovative ideas with the controls, the PSP is sticking with what works, the Playstation controller layout. On the right side of the screen, there is the basic circle, square, X, and O. Then on the left side of the screen is a short analog stick and on top of that, the d-pad. Then there are the basic right and left shoulder buttons on top of the machine. This gives a good transition for any ports of Playstation 1 or 2 games that may come to the PSP.
The DS Lite is bringing a very innovative thought to the handheld table, a touch screen. Although this idea may not be new as PDA's can play games and not all games on the DS Lite may support this, it is still a neat idea. Adding another screen onto this with now four main buttons (A, B, X, Y), which should make gaming much more fun (especially for fighting games). At the moment, games aren't using the touch screen as much as they could, but games like Wario Ware in which all the mini-games utilize it in a fun ways are definitely showing the DS Lite's true power.
Verdict: DS Lite: All in all, the decision is whether or not you prefer an additional touch screen with your handheld or an analog nub. We think the analog nub is good, but the touch screen is just too good of a feature to not think about. If DS Lite added an analog stick somehow (only a few months until launch), then the system would plain out own the PSP in this category.

Screens
The PSP is a bit over 6 inches wide, but the main reason for it being so long is because the screen is 4.5 inches diagonally without making the system bulky. This will allow for an incredible gaming experience. I'm sure some gamers must have had to squint for a cramped up parts in games because of a small screen, but this should not be a problem anymore.
While the PSP is xoverloading its screen by making it huge, the DS Lite is instead not one, but two screens. The top screen will be a normal screen while the bottom will be a touch screen. The two screens are considerably smaller than the PSP individually, each one measuring at .
Verdict: PSP Although the DS Lite may have two screens and one being a touch screen, the PSP screen is just too big for us not to love.
